Candace had people asking her for help for years and she had nothing to sell them. That’s kind of wild when you think about it.
She ran a marketing agency. On her podcast she was always talking about entrepreneurship and helping people make the move into it, and listeners would hear an episode, go do something with it, and that was it. No offer. Now she’s doing about 10 to 15K a month from a brand new coaching program, and she says she can see her 100K months coming.
Agency or the new thing, pick one
When she came in, the question was pretty simple. Do you want to focus on the agency, or do you want to focus on this new offer? At the time the new offer was for moms working in corporate.
She picked the new offer. All in. Her reason was she didn’t want to keep doing stuff just because she could make money at it, she wanted to do the thing she’d been talking about on her podcast the whole time.
I mean, a lot of people would keep both going and try to split the difference. The problem is two businesses get half of you each. It’s like trying to train for a marathon and a bodybuilding show at the same time. You can, but you’re going to be mid at both.
What I’d do if you’re in her spot is ask yourself which one you’d still want to be doing five years from now. If it isn’t the one paying you the most today, that’s okay. Pick it anyway and go make it pay. It’ll be slower for a couple of months, and then it won’t be, because all of your attention is finally going to one place instead of two.
What she sells now
Her offer today is an accelerator, basically a coaching program for corporate women who want to leave and go full time on their own, with a service based business.
So it moved a little from where it started. Moms in corporate became corporate women more broadly. That’s normal. You pick a lane, start selling, and the market tells you where to tighten it up.
The person on my team who interviewed her pointed out that she went from basically just starting this offer to bringing in consistent money every month. For a brand new offer, that’s the hard part. Getting the first sale is one thing. Getting paid every month is a business.
Her worry was about herself, not the program
She said she wasn’t worried about whether the program worked. She believes in following people who’ve already done what she wants to do, and I’ve done it, so that part was fine.
Her worry was more, okay, am I going to get there? She’s ambitious, she sees herself as a seven figure entrepreneur, and on the sales call she was basically asking herself if she’d actually hit that number.
And that’s a fair thing to wonder. Now that she’s been in it for a while, she said the fear is pretty much gone. What’s left is just her own internal pressure. She knows how to do it because she’s done it, now it’s making adjustments so she can do more of it. She said she recognizes it’s all within her control.
Slow down to hire, then go faster
She hired a messenger while she’s been in the program. She already had a couple of people helping with content, but this was her first hire that’s tied straight to revenue.
And she said something I think more people need to hear. When you start to scale, sometimes you have to take a little pause to organize so you can go faster after. Getting her messenger up to speed took time away from other stuff. But now she gets to spend more of her time bringing business in the door.
That’s the trade off. A new hire costs you a few weeks of training. Not hiring costs you forever.
Being around people who are winning
The thing that surprised her most was what being around everyone else did for her. People in the group post their wins, somebody just crossed a 100K month, somebody did 50K. She said she’d tell her husband about it and it made her feel like, yep, I’m in the right place.
Proximity matters. If everyone around you is doing 5K a month, 15K feels like a lot. If you’re hearing about 100K months every week, 15K feels like the start. Same person, same skills, different ceiling in your head.
“People need me”
She also did a one on one with the mindset coach, and the coach had her make a video about how she wants to show up and the impact she wants to have. She still has it. Every once in a while she watches it again and it’s like, okay, time to get going, people need me.
Honestly I love that. On the days you don’t feel like working, which is a lot of days, you need something that reminds you why you started.
So yeah, she picked one offer, stopped hiding from the thing she wanted to sell, hired her first revenue person, and surrounded herself with people further along. She’s at 10 to 15K a month and climbing. Go from there.
